A global coalition of stakeholders, including FIP and NABP, has developed standards and policies to govern the .pharmacy TLD program. These standards and policies were developed to ensure that those sites with a .pharmacy domain name are safe and legal. Specifically, the stakeholders and NABP recognize the ongoing and critical need for patients’ medications to be prescribed by a licensed practitioner based on an appropriate examination, dispensed by a licensed pharmacist, and sourced in accordance with applicable standards of care. The medication supply chain has many links — from manufacturer to distributor, and distributor to dispensing pharmacy or prescriber — and includes related resources and services. For that reason, the .pharmacy program encompasses more than just pharmacies. The program verifies websites dealing with every aspect of prescription medicine.

When consumers see pharmacy after the dot, they can be confident they are visiting a site that is safe, reliable, and trustworthy.
