NABP Represents .Pharmacy at ICANN57 International Meeting in India

Representatives of the .Pharmacy TLD Program attended the 57th public meeting of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, also known as ICANN57, on November 3-9, 2016, in Hyderabad, India. Drawing more than 3,000 participants from around the globe, the meeting was the most-attended in ICANN history. ICANN meetings are held three times a year in different regions around the world and provide a venue for internet community stakeholders to address the development and implementation of internet policies. Topics addressed included, among others, future applications for new generic TLDs (gTLDs), rights protection mechanisms, registration directory services (WHOIS) requirements, ICANN accountability, domain name system security issues, content regulation and consumer safety, advice of the Governmental Advisory Committee, and the release of two-letter domain names. Since the 2012 application window when 1,930 applications for new gTLDs were submitted to ICANN, 1,194 new gTLDs have been introduced to the internet.
