Privacy Policy

The National Association of Boards of Pharmacy® (NABP®) is committed to protecting the privacy of our website users’ individual personal information and non-public information, as defined under applicable law. This privacy policy (Policy) applies with respect to the individual personal information and non-public information that we collect from users of the .pharmacy Internet site (Site) or applicants seeking to acquire a .pharmacy domain (individually and collectively, User) through the Site, located at www.safe.pharmacy or its successor sites. NABP may amend this Policy at any time and at its sole discretion. NABP will post revised Policies on the Site and the date that the Policy was revised. The Policy that is posted on the Site is the Policy that is currently in effect. Continued use of this Site following the posting of a revised Policy signifies the User’s acceptance thereof.

INFORMATION COLLECTED

When the User requests services or information from the Site, we may ask the User to provide information to complete these transactions and deliver the services or information. The types of information the User may provide through the Site include contact information, such as name, business name, address, telephone number, or e-mail address, Site login and password, web site address, licensure information, information about disciplinary, civil litigation, criminal, or investigatory history (Disciplinary History) in connection with an application to acquire a .pharmacy domain, whether it pertains to a business, its owners or managers, or affiliated web sites, or other information as set forth on the application to acquire a .pharmacy domain or as needed to process the User’s request for services. We may also collect contact preference information.

In addition to the information User provides, NABP may collect information during User’s visit to the Site. Such anonymous information includes, but is not limited to, certain standard data that User’s browser sends to the Site such as browser type and language, access times, and the address of the website from which User arrived at the .pharmacy Site. We may also collect information about User’s Internet Protocol (IP) address or click stream behavior (ie, the pages User views, the links User clicks, and other actions User takes in connection with the Site).

Personal demographic and profile data may be used to tailor User’s experience at the Site, for example, to show content that User might be interested in.

NABP might store some information on User’s computer hard drive in the form of a “cookie” to assist User with requesting or purchasing services from NABP, to speed the log-in process, or to store information, such as personal preferences.

Additionally, NABP’s service providers, such as an analytics provider, may use information obtained through cookies for the purpose of evaluating User’s use of the Site and compiling reports on User’s Site activity.

A User may refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings in the User’s web browser. Please note that if the User refuses the use of cookies, the User may not be able to use the full functionality of this Site. By using this Site, the User consents to the processing of data and information about the User in the manner and for the purposes set forth in this Policy.

The Site and the services offered through the Site are not intended for individuals under the age of 13. NABP does not knowingly collect individual personal information through its Site from individuals under the age of 13. If a person has reason to believe that this has occurred, please contact NABP customer service at custserv@nabp.net.

USE OF INFORMATION

NABP uses the User’s information to deliver the service(s) the User has requested and may use it for Association operations, including quality assurance purposes, to deliver to the User information about the .pharmacy program, such as promotional material, or to contact the User about the User’s account.

NABP does not sell to third parties any personal or non-public information gathered on this Site.

NABP may share the User’s information with licensing agencies including, but not limited to, boards of pharmacy, pharmacy technician organizations if the User is or engages a certified pharmacy technician, or regulatory or law enforcement agencies for purposes of delivering the services that the User requested. For example, NABP may share information with a licensing agency in order to verify licensure information of the User. By using this Site, the User agrees that NABP may share information with a licensing agency or regulatory or law enforcement agency if NABP believes in good faith that the User is non-compliant with applicable law.

NABP may disclose information in connection with the User as required by applicable law.

NABP may also provide its vendors with User information for purposes of delivering the services that the User requested. For example, NABP may provide to a vendor information in connection with the User’s .pharmacy application so that the vendor can evaluate the User’s website. NABP vendors agree to protect the User’s personal information and non-public information in conformance with NABP requirements and applicable state and federal laws.

In the course of conducting Association business, NABP staff may access User information for the purposes stated in this Policy. Staff is required to maintain the confidentiality of a User’s personal information and non-public information, as set forth in this Policy, and is prohibited from unlawfully disclosing such information.

When a User’s personal information or non-public information is no longer needed, NABP disposes of such information that it has collected in such a manner as to protect the security and confidentiality of the information, such as shredding or rendering the information to be unreadable.

User may request changes to information previously provided to NABP, or notify NABP of the preferred method by which NABP contacts the User, by contacting NABP Customer Service via:

Please note that the User’s opt-out choices do not apply to communications from NABP related to registrations, services, or materials that the User purchases or requests through the Site.

NABP does not process or accept signals from the User web browser requesting that NABP “Not Track” the User. NABP does not collect personally identifiable information about the individual User’s online activities over time or across third-party web sites or online services. Third parties do not, through this Site, collect personally identifiable information about the individual User’s online activities over time or across third-party web sites or online services.

THIRD-PARTY LINKS

This Site may contain links to third-party websites that are not controlled by NABP. These third-party links are made available to the User as a convenience and the User agrees to use these links at the User’s own risk. Please be aware that NABP is not responsible for the content or operations of third-party websites linked to NABP, nor are we responsible for the privacy policies or practices of third-party websites linked to the Site or NABP.

SECURITY

NABP utilizes industry-standard measures to protect from misuse and alteration the personal information and non-public information under our control. For example, NABP uses encryption technology to protect such information collected through the Site. While NABP cannot guarantee that these measures will fully protect the personal information or non-public information that the User submits through the Site, we will take all reasonable steps to protect the safety of the User’s personal information and non-public information.

OPERATIONS

Our Site and the servers that make this Site available world-wide are located in the United States (US). The laws of the US govern all matters relating to and all transactions involving this Site. All information that the User provides in applying for, registering, or purchasing goods or services from NABP will be transferred to the US. By visiting the Site and providing information to NABP through use of the Site, the User authorizes this transfer, processing, and use of the information.

AGREEMENT WITH PRIVACY POLICY

By using this Site, User signifies the User’s agreement to the terms of this Policy and any modifications thereof and that User releases and holds harmless NABP, its members, directors, officers, employees, contractors, and affiliates from any and all claims arising from information that the User provides or transmits to NABP in an unsecured or illegal manner.
